Raspbian Noobs Chromium Kiosk autostart

This article is meant for myself as a reminder for every time I want to reinstall my Raspberry Pi or I need to install another and utilize the Kiosk mode in Chromium.

Some sources list up different explanations for where you need to configure the autostart options for Chromium:

  1. /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart
  2. /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
  3. ~/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart

I have found the following location to be the right one for me, using NOOBS Raspbian OS and Chromium browser in June 2017.

~/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart

The rest of the usual guide is the same as everybody else.

This is my autostart file:

@xset s off
@xset –dpms
@xset s noblank

@chromium-browser –incognito –kiosk http://your-site.com

In addition, I installed unclutter to auto hide the mouse cursor after inactivity:

sudo apt-get install unclutter

Then you just do a reboot, and you’re done.
